Dental Implants in Turkey
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is essentially a screw placed directly into the jawbone to anchor prosthetic teeth replacements, such as a crown, bridge, and fixed or removable dentures.
The bone tissue gradually fuses with the implant, which is usually made of titanium, providing a solid and secure foundation for artificial teeth.
Placing implants normally requires a surgical procedure. While the whole process may sound intimidating, it is the only method that provides a comprehensive and long-term solution for replacing a single tooth, an entire row of teeth, or all the teeth in your mouth.
Implants look and feel like natural teeth and are far superior to dentures and other dental restorations.
How Do Dental Implants Work
The implant serves as the tooth root where the artificial tooth or prosthesis is attached. It supports several types of prostheses, so it can be used to replace one or more missing teeth.
A conventional dental implant has three parts: the implant post, abutments, and prosthesis. The implant post is surgically inserted into the jawbone by drilling a hole into the oral tissues. The permanent artificial tooth or teeth are then attached to the screw-shaped implant by a metal connector called an abutment.
The primary goal of implant installation is to establish a stable bone-to-implant connection through a biological process called osseointegration. The process is similar to that of bone fracture healing. The bone tissue must fuse with the metal post and be able to withstand occlusal forces during biting or chewing.
Dealing with missing teeth does not only knock your confidence but also affects your speech and ability to chew food adequately. There is no need to suffer another day. Dental implants in Turkey are generally safe and have very high success rates. Book an appointment with us if you are ready to smile with new, healthy, permanent teeth and regain your confidence.

Dental Evaluation
To know if you are a good candidate for implants, you need to be evaluated by a dentist, periodontist, oral surgeon, or prosthodontist. We offer a free, no-obligation consultation to all patients who would like to get their dental implants in Turkey.
The success of your treatment depends on detailed planning and preparation. We will conduct a comprehensive dental and clinical exam, including 3D imaging tests to determine if implantation is possible, practical and whether you will benefit from the procedure.
It is important to evaluate the condition of your remaining teeth, jaw, gums, as well as your head and neck.
Dental Exam
An exam is performed to make a full assessment of your dental health and oral structure. The dentist will check all important details about the structure of your mouth, such as your bite, the condition of your gums, and the height and width of your jawbone.
Your gums and jawbone are two important factors for implantation. You must have healthy gums and adequate bone tissue to surround an implant and keep it stable.
Dental History
Your dental and medical history is also a vital part of pre-operative planning. You need to be honest with your dentist because the more they learn about you, the more successful your surgery is likely to be.
A review of your dental history includes questions about your previous dental treatment, such as bridges and dentures. Your dentist or surgeon will also ask questions about your overall health. You may be asked to discuss the following information about yourself:
- Smoking and drinking habits
- Oral hygiene practices
- Current medications
- Ongoing medical condition (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc.)
- Parafunctional habits (teeth clenching/grinding, thumb sucking, nail-biting)
Imaging Tests
We offer free Panoramic X-Ray and CT scan to all our patients. A computerized tomography scan allows for an unparalleled view of the patient’s oral anatomy. It helps clinicians in obtaining accurate measurements of height, weight, and depth of bone.
We have the latest 3D CT scan technology to conduct computer-based treatment planning in all areas of implant surgery, such as tooth extraction, bone grafting, and sinus
Treatment Planning for Dental Implants
Patients typically seek dental implant treatment to be able to eat whatever food they want or improve their smile and appearance. Your treatment plan depends on your goals and desires. Your dentist will discuss all treatment options with you.
If you have oral health issues, these must be addressed first. Untreated gum disease, dental caries, loose teeth, and other problems in the oral cavity can lead to implant failure. In many cases, a bone graft or soft tissue reconstruction is needed before the process can begin.
If you have periodontal disease
A gum disease is a common oral problem that damages the gums and bone that support the teeth. It is a serious infection that needs to be treated prior to implantation.
Chronic periodontal disease can cause progressive bone loss if left untreated. It is usually treated with medications, deep cleaning, or surgery.
If you have gum/bone tissue loss
It is a challenge to place dental implants in patients with considerable gum or bone tissue loss. But with recent advances in modern dentistry, it is now possible to regenerate bone and build gum tissue through grafting.
The dental surgeon usually takes tissue from the roof of the mouth to treat receding gums, while a bone graft may be taken from the back of the jaw, hip, and other sources.
If you need a sinus lift
A sinus augmentation may be necessary if you don’t have enough bone height in the upper jaw. This procedure adds bone to the space between your molars and premolars. The bone graft is usually taken from other parts of your mouth or body.
Dental Implant Options
Almost all patients can be good candidates for implant treatment. The type of implant you need depends on the number of teeth you want to replace and if adjunctive surgical procedures are necessary before the placement of dental implants. A standard implant procedure can take four to nine months to complete.
Two-Stage Implant (Submerged)
During the first stage, the soft tissue is sutured to cover the implant screw and allowed to heal undisturbed for 2-6 months. In the second stage, the implant is exposed and a healing abutment is connected. Once healed, the restorative dentist starts to build the permanent prosthesis.
One-Stage Implant (Non-submerged)
The implant extends through the gingival tissue at the time of implant placement. A healing abutment is placed to help heal the gum tissue. After several months, temporary restoration can be attached to the abutment without the need for surgery to expose the head of the implant.
Immediate Loading Implants (Teeth in a Day)
This type is ideal for people who want to leave the clinic with a new set of teeth after their first dental visit. The implant body, abutment, and permanent prosthesis are attached the same day.
We use guided dental implant technology and a special type of implant (Noble Biocare Active Implants) for this procedure. You need to make one visit to our clinic and stay for at least 14 days to complete your treatment.
All-on-4
If you lost all or most of your teeth, this is the best alternative to wearing dentures. Traditional dentures are inconvenient, unstable, and painful. What is even worse is that they do not prevent bone loss as their bite force is not enough to stimulate the jaw.
We can restore your smile and dental function using a minimum of four implants strategically placed in the upper or lower jaw. These implants provide a solid and firm base to support a set of replacement teeth. A successful restoration may require 4 to 6 implants for a full arch of teeth.
Top Dental Implant Brands

Straumann implants in Turkey are well received by patients and oral surgeons alike. We use them in our clinic because of their high quality and lifetime guarantee. Dentists all over the world respect and trust the brand in creating safe, durable, and natural-looking dental implant systems for almost all indications.

Medentica
Medentica, manufactured in Germany, is a premium segment implant because it is manufactured with superior German technology. It is preferred for patients because it has an aesthetic and durable structure. It is a saviour for patients who use and have to use removable prosthesis.
Osstem
Osstem implant manufactures dental implants for the treatment of tooth loss. The South Korean manufacturer develops highly durable products that are compatible with the tooth structure. The implant plays a major role in the compensation of teeth lost as a result of dental caries, orthodontic problems or physical damage.
Dental Implant Procedure
The dental team will discuss the treatment plan with you, including the cost, recovery period, and any treatments that may be needed before an implant is placed. If you need a graft or gum disease treatment, the whole process can take longer than usual.
Preparing for Surgery
Proper preparation is an important aspect of your dental implant treatment. If you are prepared, you are more likely to have a successful recovery. Your dentist will tell you what to do before and after the procedure.
Smokers are advised to avoid smoking for at least three months after surgery. Smoking is linked to increased implant failure by inhibiting the bone from fusing with the implant.
Immunocompromised patients and those with chronic conditions may need to receive a short course of antibiotics to prevent postoperative infection.
If you want to be IV sedated during surgery, do not eat for 6 hours before the procedure.
Arrange transport or have someone accompany you on the day of the procedure. We offer free transfers between the clinic and your hotel within Antalya city limits.
Implant Installation
Installation of implants and abutments are carried out during your first visit. This may be performed under local anesthesia, with or without sedation, or under general anesthesia. A small hole is drilled at an edentulous area in your jaw to accommodate the implant body.
To reduce treatment time, it is possible to place an implant immediately after tooth extraction. This method is called immediate implant placement. However, it is only suitable for specific cases. Our team will assess your oral and overall health to determine if you are an excellent candidate for this treatment.
Placing Abutments
Abutments serve as the adapter that connects the crown or prosthesis to the implant body. It can be attached at the same time as the implant or when the bone has grown around the implant. For immediate loading implants, the permanent crown is also attached the same day.
Placing The Replacement Teeth
The healing process from implant installation to the attachment of final prosthetic teeth usually takes about 3 to 6 months. Depending on your availability and budget, you may choose to return after 6 to 12 months for your permanent prosthesis. This will not affect the result of your treatment.
Dental Implant Aftercare
The long-term success of your implant and its restoration requires a lifetime commitment on your part. Routine monitoring, impeccable oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will minimize the risk of implant failure. Patients who are susceptible to gum disease and with poor oral hygiene or heavy plaque deposits require more frequent follow-up care.
- Brush your teeth and prosthesis after every meal and before bedtime.
- For those with removable prostheses, don’t forget to brush your gums and abutments as well.
- Floss (or use an interdental cleaner) at least once a day. Floss your abutments when you remove your prosthesis.
- Use mouthwash or prescription rinse to get rid of bacteria in your mouth.
- Ask your dentist about special cleaning aids, such as electric toothbrushes, interdental brushes, and foam-coated floss.

Dental Implant FAQ
The time frame for installing a dental implant and abutment can depend on many factors, including the technique of the dentist. The process of drilling a hole and fitting the implant can take about 1 to 2 hours. But the entire process can take months to complete.
Successful osseointegration requires a period of healing. Whether you were sent home with a temporary or permanent prosthesis, you might experience post-surgical discomforts such as bruising, minimal pain, bleeding, and swelling.
The recovery process can look different for each patient. It all depends on your health, your compliance with aftercare instructions, and your body’s response to the implant. It can take 6 to 12 months for an implant to become stable. In some people, 3 to 6 months is enough.
Thankfully, you don’t need to replace each of your 32 teeth with a dental implant. Your dentist will only use 4 to 6 dental implants per arch. That’s 4 to 6 implants for the top arch (maxillary arch) and 4 to 6 implants for the bottom arch (mandibular arch). These strategically placed implants can support an entire row of prosthetic teeth or dentures.
With proper care and maintenance, your implants can last a lifetime. They are made of titanium—one of the strongest metals—so they don’t simply break or deteriorate over time.
Dental implants are designed to integrate with your bone, thus they become permanently attached to your jaw. However, your replacement teeth can only last up to 15 years because of normal wear and tear. Replacing an old dental crown is a simple and more straightforward process than fitting implants.
A dental implant procedure is usually painless under local anesthesia. We understand that it can be anxiety-inducing to some people. We can arrange for an IV sedation or general anesthesia, which will put you asleep or sedated during the operation. However, this will incur additional costs.
Elderly patients at any age can still reap the benefits of dental implants. As long as you are reasonably healthy and have enough bone tissue to hold the implant, there’s no reason to get stuck with your dentures.
Young patients are usually not good candidates for implants until they have reached the age of 17 or 18. This is because the jawbone must be fully developed at the time the implant is placed.
The high cost of dental implants is no joke. It’s one of the reasons why patients are apprehensive about getting tooth replacement. But many people travel to Turkey for cosmetic and dental procedures to save costs.
Turkey is a prime location for dental implants because providers in the country use the same popular brands from the US, UK, and other European countries. The prices are more affordable in Turkey because their employees’ wages are lower and the prices of medications and other domestic goods.
